Brother Derek hardly broke a sweat when won the Santa Anita Derby, making him the favorite for the 2006 Kentucky Derby. He was regarded as a leading contender for the Triple Crown. As luck would have it, he lost a shoe and finished in a dead heat for fourth place in the Kentucky Derby, which was won by Barbaro. Brother Derek was ridden by Alex Solis, and trained by Dan Hendricks.
The original pastel drawing of "Brother Derek Makes His Move!" won a blue ribbon at the Western States Horse Expo.

*As with all of my prints, if you need a custom size or medium not listed here, just contact me, and I'll help you out. Be aware that, as the size of the print increases, the brush strokes and technique of the artist become more apparent. (Since not everyone respects the creative rights of artists, I have found it necessary to protect the images on my site with watermarks. Of course, the watermarks will not appear on your final print!)
